Interfaith Community Building Continues
South Joplin Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a founding member of the Joplin Interfaith Coalition which has
been encouraging interfaith relationship building since the 2011 tornado.
What began as an annual Interfaith Service expanded following the Islamic Society of Joplin's experience of arson.
Since then we have increased efforts to build relationships between people of various faiths through
panel discussions, shared meals, and service opportunities.
This spring efforts continue as we share the following experiences:
Volunteer Day at Crosslines (food and clothing pantry): April 26 at 9:00 a.m. at Crosslines.
Holocaust Remembrance: Monday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. at United Hebrew Congregation (7th and Sergeant).
Annual Interfaith Service: Sunday, May 18 at 2:30 p.m. at United Hebrew Congregation (7th and Sergeant).

Educational Opportunities during Easter Season
Faith formation is important throughout life. You are invited to join us on Sunday mornings beginning March 16 for:
The World Around Us: join Pastor Kathryn from April 27 - May 11 for conversation about how our faith impacts our life and how our life impacts the world around us. Topics will be: fair trade, human trafficking, and sustainable living.
Ask the Pastor: Do you have questions you've always wanted to ask but never found the time to do so? Whether your
questions are about the Bible, the church, faith, or some other area of life, now is the time. Over Pastor Jill's last three
weeks (May 18 - June 1) we will spend Sunday School time exploring your questions. Email your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org
or write them down and give them to her on Sundays.
Children from age 3 through middle school meet upstairs for Sunday school.
"The Station" is Open for Volunteers
The Station at SJCC is up and running. It has been busy housing volunteers since mid-March 2012 and
will be closing at the end of August 2014. Meanwhile, if you are interested in staying at The Station and helping with recovery in Joplin, visit www.discipleshomemissions.org and click on the Disciples Volunteering tab.
Responding to Disaster
As storms happen in other parts of the country and world, we here in Joplin are very aware of how important the generous responses of other people and churches continue to be to our recovery. As we hear of other locations sustaining great damage from severe weather, we know that your responses will matter to them as well. We remind you of the important work that Week of Compassion does in disaster response. Why not take a minute now to make a donation to that important work? To do so, click here.

Come Be Part of the Dream!
At South Joplin Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we have been dreaming with God about our future. We have done ministry in Joplin for over 100 years and are planning for the century ahead. As part of this process we have:
*Set priorities for ministries
*Begun work to make improvements to our church building
*Increased our commitments as members of SJCC to financial support of the future
*Installed a projection system in the sanctuary to increase our options for worship and other ministries
*Created a plan for major improvements to our current facility and future building of new facilities
We invite you to be part of seeing this dream come true!
