As children of God we will live our faith through:

genuine hospitality, passionate worship,

intentional faith development, risk-taking mission and service,

and Spirit-led generosity.

Drum Circles

Cabinet Project

Work has begun on the kitchen cabinetry for Real Faith Christian Church in Clarksdale, MS. If you'd like to help, please contact Pastor Kathryn, KC Brockman, or Sandy Meadows. If you'd rather participate in the fundraising portion of this effort than the carpentry, we need you! Fundraising information is available to share with friends, family, organizations, and churches. The donations will purchase 1-foot of cabinetry for $125 or cabinet hardware for $10 per unit (approx. 50 units).

Donations can be made below -- just click on the "Donate" button -- or mailed to:

SJCC, 1901 Pearl Avenue, Joplin, MO 64804

(Please make checks payable to SJCC Outreach)

Ongoing Educational Opportunities
Our Adult Spiritual Formation classes are held Sunday mornings at 9:30am. Here's what's currently being offered:
  •  Grades 5-12 are beginning a new Sunday School class in the Youth Room on the 3rd floor with a study on Hospitality. Please encourage your youth to attend as we're excited about this new opportunity for our young members!
  •  Pastor Colleen is leading a DVD study entitled "What Wondrous Love" in room A-12 from February 22nd through Easter Sunday. The study utilizes the artwork of John August Swanson and scholars from Candler School of Theology in examining the biblical events of Holy week. There will be both beautiful art and fascinating thought, so please join us!
  • The Fishers Sunday School class (room A-6) continues to study the book of Romans, led by Tom Fortson. All are welcome to join this ongoing study of the life of the early church.

  • Kids age PreK - 4th grade meet in the Where It's At classroom on the 3rd floor for exploration, story time, and music.
Responding to Disaster

As storms happen in other parts of the country and world, we here in Joplin are very aware of how important the generous responses of other people and churches continue to be to our recovery. As we hear of other locations sustaining great damage from severe weather, we know that your responses will matter to them as well. We remind you of the important work that Week of Compassion does in disaster response. Why not take a minute now to make a donation to that important work? To do so, click here.

Come Be Part of the Dream!

At South Joplin Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we have been dreaming with God about our future.  We have done ministry in Joplin for over 100 years and are planning for the century ahead.  As part of this process we have:

     *Set priorities for ministries

*Begun work to make improvements to our church building

*Increased our commitments as members of SJCC to financial support of the future

*Installed a projection system in the sanctuary to increase our options for worship and other ministries

*Created a plan for major improvements to our current facility and future building of new facilities

We invite you to be part of seeing this dream come true!

Journey with Us...

At South Joplin Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we recognize that we are on a lifelong journey and we invite you to journey with us.  Together we seek to know God.  Together we do ministry as we seek to make a difference to people and the world around us.

On this journey, we do not come to know God in one moment.  We do not become people of faith in a day.  Rather, we become and grow as people of faith over time, as we journey through life, as we follow the path of Jesus encountering people out in the real world.

If you would like companions on your journey, come join us as together we follow in Jesus' footsteps.
