You Are Welcome Here

We invite you to participate in ministry with us.

We would love to get to know you.

Join us on Sundays:

Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.   Worship at 10:45 a.m.

And, yes, you really are welcome!

The Core Values of SJCC

As children of God we will live our faith through:

genuine hospitality, passionate worship,

intentional faith development, risk-taking mission and service,

and Spirit-led generosity.

Lenten Worship & Study Series
In the Gospel of John, Jesus gives us the "I Am" sayings, meaningful images to reveal his mission and service. One by one, the "I Am" statements not only grab our imagination about Jesus' identity, but they also help us experience God, who spoke the first "I Am" to Moses. Join us for this insightful worship & study series as we learn more about the God we can know and seek to answer Jesus' question Who do you say I am? Several options are available for your participation in the series beginning Sunday, February 14 - Sunday, March 20.

1. Sunday morning sermons and worship at 10:45 am
2. Sunday school classes for children, youth, and adults at 9:30 am
3. Small groups throughout the week as interest indicates
4. Online study course for personal participation
Bonus: Daily devotions delivered to your email during the season of Lent

Please contact the church office to share your interest in participating in or hosting a small group for the study, to sign up for the online study course, or to be added to the daily email list.

SJCC Skate Party

On Sunday, January 31st, the SJCC youth would like to invite the congregation to come skating with them at Roller City! The party will be from 2:30 - 4:30 pm, and we'd love to see families of all ages stop by to get some exercise and (probably) some laughs. The cost will be $6.00 per person.

Ongoing Educational Opportunities
Our Adult Spiritual Formation classes are held Sunday mornings at 9:30am. Here's what's currently being offered:
  •  Grades 5-12 are beginning a new Sunday School class in the Youth Room on the 3rd floor with a study on Hospitality. Please encourage your youth to attend as we're excited about this new opportunity for our young members!

  • Kids age PreK - 4th grade meet in the Where It's At classroom on the 3rd floor for exploration, story time, and music.
Responding to Disaster

As storms happen in other parts of the country and world, we here in Joplin are very aware of how important the generous responses of other people and churches continue to be to our recovery. As we hear of other locations sustaining great damage from severe weather, we know that your responses will matter to them as well. We remind you of the important work that Week of Compassion does in disaster response. Why not take a minute now to make a donation to that important work? To do so, click here.

Green Chalice Ministries

SJCC achieved a goal of becoming a Green Chalice Ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in September of 2015.  This recognition is awarded to the church based on the leadership of our Green Team members who have pledged their support for creation care through their affirmation of The Alverna Covenant as well as steps they have taken to educate and lead the congregation in making changes that help our ministry walk more gently on the earth. For more information about Green Chalice Ministries or to read the text of The Alverna Covenant, go to

Come Be Part of the Dream!

At South Joplin Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we have been dreaming with God about our future.  We have done ministry in Joplin for over 100 years and are planning for the century ahead.  As part of this process we have:

     *Set priorities for ministries

*Begun work to make improvements to our church building

*Increased our commitments as members of SJCC to financial support of the future

*Installed a projection system in the sanctuary to increase our options for worship and other ministries

*Created a plan for major improvements to our current facility and future building of new facilities

We invite you to be part of seeing this dream come true!

Journey with Us...

At South Joplin Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we recognize that we are on a lifelong journey and we invite you to journey with us. Together we seek to know God.  Together we do ministry as we seek to make a difference to people and the world around us.

On this journey, we do not come to know God in one moment. We do not become people of faith in a day.  Rather, we become and grow as people of faith over time, as we journey through life, as we follow the path of Jesus encountering people out in the real world.

If you would like companions on your journey, come join us as together we follow in Jesus' footsteps.

10:45 a.m.  Children Worship & Wonder
