The Core Values of SJCC

As children of God we will live our faith through:

genuine hospitality, passionate worship,

intentional faith development, risk-taking mission and service,

and Spirit-led generosity.

Alternative Christmas Fair

This year we are hosting our 3rd Annual Alternative Christmas Fair, December 5 & 6 and December 12 & 13. Each year we provide the opportunity for the community to purchase Christmas gifts that have the added benefit of giving a sustainable living for artisans and crafters around the world and producers of fairly traded coffee, teas and chocolates. Gifts can be purchased at our Ten Thousand Villages and Equal Exchange Store or donations can be made to one of several local and global outreach and non-profit charities in honor of family and friends. Join us for a unique shopping and giving experience!

Friday, December 5th: 3PM to 7PM

Saturday, December 6th: 9AM to 2PM

Friday, December 12th: 3PM to 7PM

Saturday, December 13th: 9AM to 2PM

Welcome our Mission Intern!

We are excited to announce that we began hosting and housing a mission intern at the Station for several months on September 6th. Matt Fehse (Global Ministries Intern) has just returned from the Philippines and is interning with UCC Disaster Ministries until early next year. Please show Matt a warm welcome during his time at SJCC!

Crosslines Challenge

In lieu of our monthly food challenge, Crosslines is asking for generous donations of both food and cash for the holiday season in Joplin. Christmas is a time of need in our community, so please give extravagantly to help meet the needs of our neighbors!
Prayer & Worship Drum Circle
Bring your drum or other percussion instruments and join us
for our monthly drum circle! When the weather is accommodating, we will gather
at Friendship park (on Pearl just south of the church and the Quonset hut). Most winter months will see
us gathering in Fellowship Hall.
Don't have a drum? Not a problem -- we'll have something
you are sure to master.
Our next gathering is at 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 25th.

Educational Opportunities
Faith formation is important throughout life. You are invited to join us on Sunday mornings at 9:30 for:
A Thrill of Hope - Pastor Colleen will lead a class during the season of Advent utilizing the colorful artwork of John August Swanson as inspiration. For a sneak peak at his style, visit .
This class will also convene in room A-12.
Children from age 3 through middle school meet upstairs for Sunday school.
Responding to Disaster

As storms happen in other parts of the country and world, we here in Joplin are very aware of how important the generous responses of other people and churches continue to be to our recovery. As we hear of other locations sustaining great damage from severe weather, we know that your responses will matter to them as well. We remind you of the important work that Week of Compassion does in disaster response. Why not take a minute now to make a donation to that important work? To do so, click here.

Come Be Part of the Dream!

At South Joplin Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we have been dreaming with God about our future.  We have done ministry in Joplin for over 100 years and are planning for the century ahead.  As part of this process we have:

     *Set priorities for ministries

*Begun work to make improvements to our church building

*Increased our commitments as members of SJCC to financial support of the future

*Installed a projection system in the sanctuary to increase our options for worship and other ministries

*Created a plan for major improvements to our current facility and future building of new facilities

We invite you to be part of seeing this dream come true!

Journey with Us...

At South Joplin Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we recognize that we are on a lifelong journey and we invite you to journey with us.  Together we seek to know God.  Together we do ministry as we seek to make a difference to people and the world around us.

On this journey, we do not come to know God in one moment.  We do not become people of faith in a day.  Rather, we become and grow as people of faith over time, as we journey through life, as we follow the path of Jesus encountering people out in the real world.

If you would like companions on your journey, come join us as together we follow in Jesus' footsteps.

10:45 a.m.  Children Worship & Wonder
