You Are Welcome Here
We invite you to participate in ministry with us.
We would love to get to know you.
Join us on Sundays:
Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. Worship at 10:45 a.m.
And, yes, you really are welcome!
As children of God we will live our faith through: genuine hospitality, passionate worship,
intentional faith development, risk-taking mission and service, and Spirit-led generosity.
Welcome our new Mission Intern!
We are excited to announce that we will be hosting and housing a mission intern at the Station for several months beginning on September 6th. Matt Fehse (Global Ministries Intern) has just returned from the Philippines and is interning with UCC Disaster Ministries until early next year. Please show Matt a warm welcome during his time at SJCC!
During the month of October, the Outreach Committee has challenged our congregation to donate
50 Jars of Peanut Butter and 50 Jars of Jelly. There will be a cart in the narthex, as well as the regular Crosslines donation table in Fellowship hall to collect this month's donations.
Please give generously to help meet the needs of our neighbors!
Prayer & Worship Drum Circle
Bring your drum or other percussion instruments and join us
for our monthly drum circle! When the weather is accommodating, we will gather
at Friendship park (on Pearl just south of the church and the Quonset hut).
Don't have a drum? Not a problem -- we'll have something
you are sure to master. Gatherings start at 6:00 p.m. as follows:
Sunday, October 26

Faith formation is important throughout life. You are invited to join us on Sunday mornings at 9:30 for:
Let the Conversation Begin: Sundays in September (in A-12) Pastor Colleen will be asking for feedback and beginning a conversation about where we are without Pastor Jill, where we want to go with Pastor Colleen, and how we will ready ourselves to call a minister for our future.
The Bible from Scratch:We will spend the summer learning more about the Bible. Beginning with the Old Testament
and then going to the New Testament, we will discuss content, context, and more.
Children from age 3 through middle school meet upstairs for Sunday school.
Responding to Disaster
As storms happen in other parts of the country and world, we here in Joplin are very aware of how important the generous responses of other people and churches continue to be to our recovery. As we hear of other locations sustaining great damage from severe weather, we know that your responses will matter to them as well. We remind you of the important work that Week of Compassion does in disaster response. Why not take a minute now to make a donation to that important work? To do so, click here.

Come Be Part of the Dream!
At South Joplin Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we have been dreaming with God about our future. We have done ministry in Joplin for over 100 years and are planning for the century ahead. As part of this process we have:
*Set priorities for ministries
*Begun work to make improvements to our church building
*Increased our commitments as members of SJCC to financial support of the future
*Installed a projection system in the sanctuary to increase our options for worship and other ministries
*Created a plan for major improvements to our current facility and future building of new facilities
We invite you to be part of seeing this dream come true!
