You Are Welcome Here
We invite you to participate in our ministries with us.
We would love to get to know you.
Join us on Sundays:
Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. Worship at 10:45 a.m.
As children of God we will live our faith through: genuine hospitality, passionate worship,
intentional faith development, risk-taking mission and service, and Spirit-led generosity.

Interfaith Panel Discussion - June 22
Join people of many faiths on Saturday, June 22 at 10 a.m. at
First Community Church (15th and Connecticut) for a panel discussion as we learn about the Core Beliefs of
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Following presentations by a representative of each faith
there will be a time for questions. Join us as we seek to come to greater understanding of
the people and faiths with whom we share our community.
Holding Moore, OK and other communities in our prayers
May 19 and 20 saw tornado outbreaks across Oklahoma and Kansas. Among other towns, Moore, OK sustained significant damage. As we in Joplin remember our tornado two years ago, we hold those communities in our prayers.
There will be many opportunities to reach out to them. These begin with prayer.
Other items and hands on help will be needed for the foreseeable future...please give in ways that really
help and don't create more work for communities already overwhelmed.
June Adult Studies
On Sunday mornings (9:30 a.m.) during June, high school youth and adults are invited to participate in these studies:
When Bad Things Happen to Good People - a study based on Harold Kushner's book (will meet in A-12).
Thinking About the Bible - a study talking about the importance of understanding context, translation process, and more
as we come to understand and use the Bible (will meet in A-3).
On Sunday evenings (5:30 p.m.) during June, all are invited to revisit the book The Shack as we explore who God is and
what God's identity means for those of us who choose a life of faith. This study will include a snack supper.
Praise in the Park
Join us Sunday evenings in June (7:00 p.m.) for Praise in the Park which will take place in Friendship Park
(just south of the church building and mission station). Each evening we will worship God through song and prayer.

Responding to Disaster
As storms happen in other parts of the country and world, we here in Joplin are very aware of how important the generous responses of other people and churches continue to be to our recovery. As we hear of other locations sustaining great damage from severe weather, we know that your responses will matter to them as well. We remind you of the important work that Week of Compassion does in disaster response. Why not take a minute now to make a donation to that important work? To do so, click here.

Come Be Part of the Dream!
At South Joplin Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we have been dreaming with God about our future. We have done ministry in Joplin for over 100 years and are planning for the century ahead. As part of this process we have:
*Set priorities for ministries
*Begun work to make improvements to our church building
*Increased our commitments as members of SJCC to financial support of the future
*Installed a projection system in the sanctuary to increase our options for worship and other ministries
*Created a plan for major improvements to our current facility and future building of new facilities
We invite you to be part of seeing this dream come true!
